The Very Best of Frank Sinatra
$31.98 A great, comprehensive collection of Sinatra's most popular Reprise tracks, and worth having for any number of reasons, Very Best Of features tons of familiar hits--but requires a caveat for casual Sinatra fans. When Sinatra formed Reprise, he began to re-record many of the sides he'd released on Capitol, in an attempt to transfer his catalog to the new label. It was a smooth move, but his re-reco... |

Ascenseur Pour L'Echafaud (Lift To The Scaffold): Original Soundtrack
$10.48 Performed by a Miles Davis-fronted European band for a movie by Louis Malle, this music helped define the sound of film noir. It made viewers think the genre's films had always sounded just so, with slow-walking bass beats and muted, slithering horn lines miming the characters on the screen--and underlining their emotions. The melodies here are brief fragments, sometimes rising up only to disappea... |

Bands, Booze and Broads
$23.50 In this captivating study of one of our most popular music genres, Sheila Tracy goes behind the scenes and talks to over 60 Americans who played with the most famous big bandsâand who lived to tell the tale. This was no mean feat: swing music's huge popularity brought the performers wild adulation, and for many, resorting to drugs and alcohol was the only way to keep up. These musicians relat... |
Recommend good jazz music for a retail store.?
I want to play jazz music in my retail store using customized music selections from Pandora.com. Please recommend good jazz musicians I can select from the website to play. [In case you are not familiar with Pandora.com, it plays customized music among your selections.]
The typical audience in my Manhattan store are: white, college+ graduate, high income yuppies in the mid 30’s. More females than males.
I’m in expert level in classical music but really in beginner level with jazz. So, don’t assume I might know basic names of jazz musicians. Someone recommended such names as Louis Armstrong, Ray Charles, Miles Davis, Charlie Parker. Who are other great musicians I shouldn’t miss for my customers? I appreciate your personal recommendations.
Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Lena Horne, Sarah Vaughn, Andrews sisters is lively might not be your thing.
Hope this helps.
