I don’t think so…Prisoners in Arizona were required to wear pink underwear (they may still be required to do so, I’m not sure) and the overall consensus was that they felt humiliated by this. I don’t think that painting the walls pink or forcing inmates to do something which they may find either humiliating or degrading would make for better citizenship upon release

(i do, however, think that it’s important to remember that, as you mentioned, almost everyone does eventually get out of prison so programs which increase their chances of success, and therefore decrease the likelihood they will victimize more innocent people, are important and should be developed)
