Instruments Used To Play Jazz


Is the SHOFAR used on the jewish High Holidays , also a musical instrument? Can one play the musical scale? ?

I’ve always wondered if the SHOFAR, a horn, that is used for religious
sounds in the sinagogue on the jewish high holidays, can also be used
as a musical instrument. Has anyone used the shofar in commercial
music recordings or in jazz bands. Let me know.

It is difficult to blow a shofar and it is almost impossible to play the scale. A shofar has no means of modulating the notes and any holes in a shofar (besides the mouth and end) will render it unfit for ritual use. Therefore, I highly doubt it could be used in any jazz band but it would be real cool if it was!
